SMTP Server

When developing sites on my local machine, I don’t want any emails going out to the users of the site.  I’m constantly making changes and refreshing the pages as I work on the bug or enhancement.

Today I discovered Papercut.  This is a super simple service to install and run on your machine.  I just downloaded and ran the Papercut.Setup.exe file.  Then I went into the ColdFusion administrator and set my “Mail Server” to “127.0.0.1” and clicked the box to verify the service.  When I saved I received confirmation that CF could talk to the service.  I ran a page that would generate an email, and it popped right up in the Papercut service and I can view it in all it’s glory.

Awesome!
